I am trying to retrieve deleted files from the Downloads folder. I have an Asus Laptop with Windows 8. Can anyone please help me.

Have you tried the recycle bin?

You might be able to recover files using things such as MiniTool Power Data Recovery you probably be best off making portable copies onto USB or DVD boots.
